High ceilings change the job

Loft conversions are everywhere in this part of Cardiff, which means sloped ceilings, dormer cheeks, splayed roof-window reveals and a full-height stairwell to board and skim.
Access is the other constraint — these are terraces on streets with permit parking, so materials, waste and any scaffold need planning rather than assuming. Parts of this area sit inside one of Cardiff's 27 conservation areas, so check before planning anything to the front elevation.

Our ceilings are very high. Does that change the job?
It changes the access and the programme rather than the technique. Staging or towers go up inside the room, everything takes longer to move, and a big wall has to be kept live so it can be ruled off in one pass instead of being joined halfway up. It is factored into the quote at the visit, which is one of the reasons the visit happens.
Can the cornice and ceiling rose be kept?
Usually, and on the Pontcanna and Canton villas they are worth keeping. Missing runs can be matched and pieced in and paint-clogged detail can often be brought back. Where an original has gone entirely he will say so rather than pretend a modern section will pass next to it.
We are converting the loft. What part of it is yours?
The boarding and skimming: sloped ceilings, dormer cheeks, the flat between, the stairwell and the reveals around the roof windows. There is a finished one in the gallery on this site. He comes in after the structure, the windows and the first fix, and before the decorator.

Say so when you ring. It affects where the van goes, where a mixer can stand and how waste leaves, and on the terraces off Cowbridge Road East that is the difference between a straightforward day and a wasted morning. Rear lanes are often the answer.

Needed kitchen Artex ceiling plastered. Jetnor was quick to respond and arrange a date & time to quote. Quote was very reasonable and job was carried out to an excellent standard (photos attached). He turned up on time, was very polite and cleaned up after he finished. He used Blue Grit on the Artex first and plastered when dry the next day. We would highly recommend Jetnor if you need any plastering done. You will not be disappointed. 10 out of 10 from us.
