Rumney is the older half: the village core up on the hill, some Victorian and a lot of interwar. Llanrumney is the postwar estate below it, built out in the 1950s and 60s and now mostly owner-occupied rather than council.

Our render is cracked and hollow in places. Can it be painted over?
Paint buys you a season and hides the problem while water carries on getting in behind. Render that sounds hollow when you tap it has lost its grip and will come off whatever goes on top of it. The usable answer is to take off what is loose, get back to a sound background, and put a proper system on.
How do you know what our walls are actually built of?
By looking, and by saying so if it is not obvious. Not every postwar estate house is brick and block, and the wall build decides what render can go on it. Where there is any doubt he will say that rather than guess, because a system chosen for the wrong wall is an expensive way to find out.
Is one ceiling worth you coming out for?
Out here, yes. Rumney and Llanrumney are close enough that he can price a small job on the way past and fit it around a bigger one, which is not true of everywhere on this website. If it is genuinely too small to be worth your money he will tell you that instead of quoting for it.
We are converting the garage. What does the plastering involve?
On this stock the inside face is normally lined out and insulated before anything gets skimmed, because a bare garage wall is cold and will show every bit of that through the finish. The other thing to plan is the old door opening: once it has been closed up, the new brick or block wants making good and bringing into line with the rest of the room, and that is easier to do properly than to hide.

Plaster over Kitchen Artex Ceiling
Needed kitchen Artex ceiling plastered. Jetnor was quick to respond and arrange a date & time to quote. Quote was very reasonable and job was carried out to an excellent standard (photos attached). He turned up on time, was very polite and cleaned up after he finished. He used Blue Grit on the Artex first and plastered when dry the next day. We would highly recommend Jetnor if you need any plastering done. You will not be disappointed. 10 out of 10 from us.
