Detached, extended, and extended again

Render on the bigger elevations
Silicone thin-coat systems are popular here because they are through-coloured and never need repainting. They are a system rather than a coating — a base coat, mesh bedded into it wet with diagonal patches at every window corner, then the topcoat. The mesh is what stops it cracking at the openings, and it is the first thing a cheap quote leaves out.

Can you do curved walls and arches, or is that a specialist job?
He does them. There is a spiral staircase wall and a curved garden wall in the gallery on this site, both his own work. Curves are slower because the beads have to be cut and set to the radius and the coat has to be worked round rather than ruled off flat, and that shows up in the programme rather than in the finish.
We want a recess for the TV and a proper feature wall. Is that plastering or joinery?
Both, in that order. Someone frames and boards the recess and runs the cables and sockets, then it is beaded and skimmed so the returns are square and the edges are sharp. There is a finished one in the gallery. Tell him what you want it to look like at the quote and he will tell you what has to happen first.
Our extension was plastered by somebody else and it does not match the old rooms. Can that be fixed?
Usually. An over-skim across both, taken through the opening, is the normal way to lose a join between two different finishes. Whether that works depends on how flat the newer work actually is, which is a five-minute check with a straightedge.
The house is big and detached. Do we need scaffold for the outside?
For a full elevation on the two-storey and larger houses around Cyncoed and Lisvane, almost always. Towers only work on low, reachable work. If scaffold is needed it is in the quote, in writing, rather than appearing as an extra once the job has started.
Do you cover Lisvane and Rhydypennau as well as Cyncoed?
Yes, along with Penylan, Roath, Llanishen and Thornhill. It is a short run from Pentwyn.

Needed kitchen Artex ceiling plastered. Jetnor was quick to respond and arrange a date & time to quote. Quote was very reasonable and job was carried out to an excellent standard (photos attached). He turned up on time, was very polite and cleaned up after he finished. He used Blue Grit on the Artex first and plastered when dry the next day.
